Louis Vuitton Pochette Accessoires: The Complete Buyer's Guide

Few Louis Vuitton bags have had a second life quite like the Pochette Accessoires. Originally sold as a small accessories pouch, it became one of the most wanted bags in the brand's history – and since it was discontinued, the pre-owned market is the only place to find one. This guide covers everything you should know before buying.
What is the Pochette Accessoires?
The Pochette Accessoires is a small, flat, zip-top bag with a short strap attached to a D-ring. It was designed to hold small items inside a larger bag, but people quickly started wearing it on its own – on the shoulder, under the arm or as a clutch. Today it is one of the most recognisable small bags Louis Vuitton has made.
It measures roughly 21 cm wide, 13 cm tall and 4 cm deep, which is enough for a phone, cards, keys and a lipstick. It is not a bag for a full day's essentials, but as an evening bag or a compact everyday bag it is hard to beat.
Versions you will come across
- Monogram canvas – the classic and most common version, with natural vachetta leather on the strap.
- Damier Ebène – the brown checkerboard canvas, which shows less wear and patina.
- Damier Azur – the light blue and cream checkerboard, a fresh look for spring and summer.
- Mini Pochette Accessoires – a smaller sibling, often used as a card or coin pouch.
Over the years the Pochette has also appeared in limited editions and special canvases, but for most buyers the Monogram version is the one to look for.
What to check before you buy
1. The interior
Some older Pochettes have an interior lining that can become sticky over time, especially if the bag has been stored in a warm place. Always ask the seller about the condition of the interior, or look for clear photos of it. A sticky interior does not affect authenticity, but it does affect how pleasant the bag is to use – and the price should reflect it.
2. The strap and strap tab
The short strap takes most of the stress. Look at where the strap meets the D-ring and the clip: cracks, dryness or repairs here are common on well-used bags. The vachetta leather should have an even patina without deep cracks.
3. Corners and edges
The lower corners of the canvas are the first place where wear shows. Light rubbing is normal on a vintage bag; holes or exposed fabric are worth noting.
4. The zipper
Open and close the zipper in your mind as you study the photos: it should run smoothly, with the pull intact. Ask the seller if you are unsure.
5. Authenticity
Because the Pochette is so popular, it is also one of the most counterfeited Louis Vuitton bags. Read our guide on how to tell if a Louis Vuitton bag is authentic and our explanation of Louis Vuitton date codes before you buy from a private seller.
How to wear it
- Under the arm – the classic way, using the original short strap.
- As a crossbody – many owners add a longer strap or chain to the D-rings for hands-free wear.
- As a clutch – unclip the strap for evenings out.
- Inside a bigger bag – the way it was originally intended, to keep small items organised in a Neverfull or Keepall.
Is a pre-owned Pochette worth it?
Since the Pochette Accessoires is no longer produced, supply is limited to bags already in circulation. A well-kept example in Monogram canvas is a small investment in a true classic – and with proper care, the coated canvas lasts for decades.
